Musical Themed Things

Guess I've had a song on my mind lately!  Finished these finally and have posted them to my shop

This one is a jewelry embellished ornament...complete with a shrink paper music score.

Then, I just finished this music stand today.  It is made of felt and embroidered to look ornate.  This also has a shrink paper music score of "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" on it.  I made the paper into a bead for stitching onto the music stand.  Hope you like these!

Matchbox Swap--to My Partner

Well, this promises to be a hot weekend here in Wisconsin.  It has been very dry lately, so hopefully the storms the weatherman says will come will indeed come.  However....hopefully only during the evening/night.  Tomorrow is the start of a city-wide garage sale hop at one of my favorite local towns, and Saturday morning Mom and I are planning on going to the Princeton flea market.  Yes, the flea market is every Saturday...BUT the holiday weekends are supposed to be the best.  Hopefully neither will get rained out despite needing the rain!

Thought I show the matchbox I created for Karla in the Vintage Dragonfly's "Partner's Choice" altered matchbox swap.  Mine hasn't arrived yet (it isn't coming from Karla but from someone different), but I'm sure it will in time. ; )  Each person was to list what they liked--themes, colors, styles, etc., then we were to alter a matchbox and fill it with things that they especially would want.  I made Karla a box with an aqua, beachy theme complete with glitter "sand", sea glass, jewelry shells, and a shell button drawer pull.  I didn't take a picture of the contents...but it had plenty of bits and pieces and blings.  Karla is just the nicest person...she told me she was married at a lighthouse.  Now, how romantic is that?  Hop over to her blog when you get a moment and get to know her.

New Hand-made Piano Bench

Thankfully my hubby grew up working with his contractor father and isn't afraid to work with his hands--in fact he enjoys it. We received a piano last fall so that our children could start piano lessons. No, they haven't given up the violin but are taking BOTH piano and violin (it's good form them...and I know someday they will be glad they did). Their violin lessons are more intense, and piano lessons are more relaxed...because, well, Grandma is teaching them (she is very talented, though doesn't play as much as she used to) and gives them a lesson every other week. It has been great fun for the kids as well as for Grandma. They have time one-on-one with her, and she has the great joy to teach her extensive knowledge to some eager grandkids. They have played for nursing home church services already and are dong well (they elderly folk there think they are just wonderful!). Anyway, we obtained this piano (with a promise never to sell it) only it came without a bench. Well, hubby built this one and did a fabulous job, I think. Perhaps someday I will make a little cushion for the very top, but I think it looks pretty just as it is.

Music Score Thumbtacks and Jewelry

You already know this, but I really like truly realistic things only in miniature. So, I've had fun creating these pins, zipper clips, and, yes, thumbtacks with sacred music scores.
I think they would make wonderful gifts for music teachers, choir directors, musicians, or just about anyone else who like music. Rest assured, these are all public domain scores. They may be hard to read, but I truly like how they look in roughly 1 in squares.

A Few New Things Added To the Shop

I've added a few new items to my shop lately. This little brooch is just in time for Thanksgiving--a sweet pilgrim gal.
This French handmade coin purse and eye glasses case is a beautiful vintage find. It is hard to sell them since I like them so much--they are exquisite with gorgeous embroidered/tampour detail.
These are thumbtacks that are public domain music scores of favorite hymns--a perfect gift for a church music leader, or a music teacher, or for someone who just loves hymns.

"Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" Zipper Pull

Here's a peek at my latest Etsy addition--a zipper pull/charm featuring the score (yes, rest assured, this particular score is public domain, in case you wondered) of "Ode to Joy" or "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" by Beethoven. I love the song, and, well, am pleased with this item. Hopefully someone else will like it enough too to want it for their very own. ; )
