Color in the Winter

I just love that my two cactus plants bloom in mid-January when winter has come to stay and the colors are at their bleakest.  The pops of color from these two plants are beautiful and refreshing especially when I look at them with a window just beyond revealing the white, wintry landscape.  One cactus has salmon colored blooms and the other one (below) bright, fuchsia ones.

While doing the dishes the other day, the wide-open blooms on this reminded me of birds in flight, and I had to click a picture.  I'm so thankful for these bright spots of color during the winter months.

Springtime Blooms

Just two pictures of what is blooming around our house.  I've enjoyed them and hope you will too.

Blue and Purple-Pink

I have a corner sink in our kitchen.  While doing dishes yesterday afternoon I was enjoying the pretty purple-pink blooms of my cactus and the light shining through Gram's blue jar.  She loved blue glass, and I'm thankful to have this that was hers.  I thought the colors together were just grand and decided to share the scene with you.  Enjoy and happy weekend to you all!

A Colorful January!

Forget January whites! I'm all for color! I don't force my cactus to bloom in December but instead let it stay on its own cycle and then enjoy the plethora of color in January when all is bleak, white, and gloomy. I have this usually right by my kitchen sink...which is a corner sink below two windows. My cactus loves it there, and I love the anticipation of watching those little pink buds pop out then grow into these beautiful blooms. Bring on the color...and so long bleak January!
