Something New

These are the result of seeing an idea in an old magazine then carrying that idea forward, putting my own ideas with it, and making something new.  I had discussed wanting to find little vintage tartlet/chocolate/butter tins with my mom, and she found some at a flea market in Florida.  So, I played and experimented, and these "tin pins" are the result.  I had originally wanted to embellish the outside bottoms of these...but, alas, that would be too hard to fix a pin to.  I had some vintage jewelry pieces--some of them very old pieces--that are beautiful but too delicate to really utilize on my other projects.  So these assemblage pins are the result.  What do you think?

This one uses a sugared flower piece. I love the glass leaf spray and the heart shape of the tin.

This one has a Bavarian theme with an aurora borealis rhinestone piece with a spray of pine cones and tassels...then I added a cuckoo clock.

There are three others that I've listed in my Etsy shop if you would like to see.

Pinterest Reorganization

I have finally reorganized my Pinterest boards and pins.  Some of the boards really did need to be streamlined and pins reorganized.  Take a look if you'd like and see how you like it!---Treasuresandtea.

Matchbox Swap--to My Partner

Well, this promises to be a hot weekend here in Wisconsin.  It has been very dry lately, so hopefully the storms the weatherman says will come will indeed come.  However....hopefully only during the evening/night.  Tomorrow is the start of a city-wide garage sale hop at one of my favorite local towns, and Saturday morning Mom and I are planning on going to the Princeton flea market.  Yes, the flea market is every Saturday...BUT the holiday weekends are supposed to be the best.  Hopefully neither will get rained out despite needing the rain!

Thought I show the matchbox I created for Karla in the Vintage Dragonfly's "Partner's Choice" altered matchbox swap.  Mine hasn't arrived yet (it isn't coming from Karla but from someone different), but I'm sure it will in time. ; )  Each person was to list what they liked--themes, colors, styles, etc., then we were to alter a matchbox and fill it with things that they especially would want.  I made Karla a box with an aqua, beachy theme complete with glitter "sand", sea glass, jewelry shells, and a shell button drawer pull.  I didn't take a picture of the contents...but it had plenty of bits and pieces and blings.  Karla is just the nicest person...she told me she was married at a lighthouse.  Now, how romantic is that?  Hop over to her blog when you get a moment and get to know her.

Pansies

The sun was hitting the planter just right this morning to illuminate my pansies.  I just love pansies!  Their pretty, sweet faces always turn upward to give a smile.  They have such an interesting and subtle variance of colors and shading.  All of mine are finally potted and placed around the house outside--some I purchased and most as a Mother's Day gift from the kids. This particular pot full is underneath the hummingbird feeder on our deck to encourage the hummers to linger.  I have yet to get pictures of my roses...but that will come in time.

Hummers, Flowers, and Glass Lights

Guess I've been MIA lately!  Lots of things going on.  The kids and I have been working extra hard finishing up school for the year.  They have worked very diligently, and thankfully their standardized testing went well.  I'm very pleased with their efforts and work, and we only have a few more weeks left of school.  Hooray!  I finished another swap but will blog more about that later once my swap partner gets her package.  I hope all of you moms had a nice Mother's Day.  My big sweetie and two smaller sweeties gave me the nicest cards for Mother's Day (the kids made theirs).  What a blessing and delight to have such a loving family!  They bought me some flowers....

I'll need to replant them soon.  I DO love these colors, and they go well with the cranberry, gray, and deep purples on the siding and rocks on our house.

They also bought me some solar night lights.  I've always wanted some but thought that so many styles were terribly ugly (not to mention the ones that change colors).  They know I love stained glass, and these mosaic glass ones are just perfect--beautiful during the daytime and at night!  I can't wait to get them into the ground.

The roses are all blooming around the house (will save that for another post) and the hummingbirds have returned.  This pretty copper feeder was yet another gift from my crew--though for my birthday a few months back.  My other feeder had broken last year, and I really like this one.  Apparently the hummingbirds like it too.  They've been busy feeding.  What a joy to have them return for the season!  It has been great fun watching them.

Black Buttons

Well, I guess I'll keep my eye out for a bead or button swap (thank you for those who have helped)....but in the time being I thought I'd show you some of my favorite buttons acquired recently.  There were many buttons in the stash of goodies I purchased at that auction.  Some I am selling.  Some I am saving for other projects.  These I am keeping for myself and thought you'd like to see them.  Though it is damaged in the very center, I especially  like the one with the mother of pearl layer to it.  Exquisite!  Anyway, enjoy your weekend.  Thanks for stopping by. ; )

Any Bead or Button Swaps Going On?

I've been out of commission on my blog lately...are there any bead or buttons swaps going on out there that I have missed and can still join in on?  I have some pretty ones (both beads and buttons) and some old ones and was just wondering!

Needlebook Swap...from My Partner

This is a long overdue post.  So sorry for the delay! Here is the needlebook my dear swap partner, the talented Jean of Lilac Lane Livery, made for me in the Button Floozies needlebook swap.  Obviously, I was a little out of my league when it came to making needlebooks.  This is just beautiful!  First of all it came in a pretty little sack...with an extra treat of a sachet included.  Mmmmmm....it smells so good!.

I love the colors--my favorites--pink and green.  That swirly pink button is adorable.

Inside she put all sorts of treats and made interesting little pockets.  I love the little scissors, thread, pins, and buttons....and she made every inch of this needlebook pretty, fun, and interesting!

Thank you so much, Jean.  I appreciate how you tailored this for me with my favorite colors and all the work you put into this.  Also, thank you again Laurie of Button Floozies for hostessing this fun swap.
